Erotica or pornography, you decide1

I am taking a great risk but this post deals with a subject where I’m sure everybody has an opinion and no two people will have quite the same point of view.

What is the difference between erotica and pornography? I have made a point of not looking up ether word in the dictionary so my own views on the subject are not influenced .  To start with, they have much in common. Both can be images or words or a mixture of both, and both are there for the express purpose of sexually arousing whoever is indulging in it.  At this point the paths start to divide.

From my point of view, erotica is there to make you feel good, to lift the spirits and lubricate the libido, to add a little extra zest to the sex you have with yourself or with a partner. It should help to make that sex joyous and exciting, and depending on your tastes and inclinations it is likely to give you an idealised version of what happens to turn you on personally. This could be luscious naked bodies,

tethered temptresses,

or naughty wenches being spanked for their imaginary misdemeanours before being soothed and forgiven.

Whatever it is, after a little wallow in it you have  a little smile on your face that lasts for the rest of the day.

Pornography on the other hand panders to something nasty, and a common element tends to be  brutal looking men inflicting  something near to hate on a helpless victim, or sometimes it is women with their faces curled not  into sexual joy but some snarling message of  just how far they can debase themselves. The people in pornography do not seem to be experiencing pleasure but are more involved in some competition to show how repulsive they can be.

The difference between the two  is certainly not about being explicit as a scroll back through my blog shows both women and men in a state of sexual arousal and sexual congress.

I like to think however that my images all have some grace and beauty and that the people in them are engaged in activities that make the reader want to be the lucky men or woman in question and not instead be screwing up their faces in horror.

So much more to be said but as always I have time limitations (I seem to type all my post against the clock) and anyway I do not want to get boring.

I’ll finish with a pic of something that might straddle the two, a tethered male clearly in a state of arousal as a result of the humiliation being dealt out to him to him by the dominatrix. With this one I cannot improve on a remark once made by a very dear older friend of mine. “Funny how some people get their jollies, dear

All and any comments on the subject would be much appreciated.

  1. The line between erotica and pornography varies for everyone. I have not even seen a Playboy for many years, but I applaud their decision to drop full nudity. For me, some clothing makes it erotic, while spread vagina lips are a turn off.

v-e-r-y interesting - you do make us think but as has been observed before, a lot goes on in the mind

well, erotic pornographic / erotica, pornographa - it could be a class thing but probably a usage thing or even a sofisticated thing

pornography does not have a good press whereas the erotic, well it's a bit highbrow like in'it

but usually you know it when you see it

as for the picture well he is a happy boy although autonic erections can occur, however funny little bottom has our heroine not pert al all.

odd too, to my mind, sometimes in these depictions yea, yea i've been around, the 'ladies' are inclined to kick a chap where it hurts and punch too - no not my idea of the erotic

ah, does one recall the Erotic Quarterly involving the now occasional columnist em, er ah, the mind falters, some of you reading this can prompt perhaps me, please, ah i'm getting close - Rowan Pelling

    1. Maybe you've got it in one sentence, it's about sexual elegance which is something I care about a great deal. An admiral summary of the whole subject!

admiral, admiral - to the 'head' with her men for a taste of the rope end, what, what

it may have been the second class of chardoney but 'admirable; could be what you were grasping for - but hey, who knows what's wrong with a touch up with an admiral............'hello sailor' and all that
